Seminar paper from the year 2017 in the subject English Language and Literature Studies - Literature, grade: 2,3, Christian-Albrechts-University of Kiel, language: English, abstract: In-Yer-Face Theatre is to the 1990s what absurdism was to the 1950s In the following paper, Id like to investigate whether this statement is true or if both movements should be seen as two different theatre forms without any connection. As a basis of my investigations serves Agnes M. Kitzlers study about the influence of Absurdist Theatre on Contemporary In-Yer-Face Theatre (Kitzler, 2011) as well as Aleks Sierz book on In-Yer-Face-Theatre (Sierz, 2001) and Martin Esslins book on the Theatre of the Absurd (Esslin, 2001). I will mostly try to give a general overview about similarities and differences between absurdism and In-Yer-Face Theatre before I give distinct examples of Samuel Becketts play Endgame and Mark Ravenhills Shopping and F***ing and finally come to a conclusion if In-Yer-Face Theatre is to the 1990s what absurdism was to the 1950s or not. I firmly believe that as this paper is limited to seven until eight pages it is more important to give a general overview which is more effective to answer the question whether both movements show similarities or not. However, I think it is important to undertake several aspects a closer examination in a broader study, which could be, for example, a bachelor thesis.

Urban Management Studies in the Urban Regenerat...

Document from the year 2017 in the subject Urban and Regional Planning, grade: PhD, Islamic Azad University, language: English, abstract: Urban waterfront regeneration started in the 1960s in the US, spread widely during the 1970s and 1980s throughout North America; in the following decades, it became a key factor in inner city redevelopment in Europe (Jauhiainen 1995). It reflects efforts in various cities around the world to transform the de-industrialized, derelict urban spaces of late-twentieth-century capitalism in such a way that these respond to the newly rising demands of the global economy and, thus, once again emerge as attractive sites for different groups (Merrifield 1993, Feldman 2000). In physical terms, urban waterfront regeneration often involves a transition from former centers of industrial production, with warehouses and manufacturing establishments, to places with promenades, shopping complexes, luxurious residences, gentrified neighborhoods, office towers, and the like. In this respect, urban waterfront regeneration can be situated within the broader theoretical framework that focuses on multiple processes of globalization and its impact on the urban space. More specifically, this phenomenon can be examined within a context of growing intercity competition, of intense efforts to market cities and push them up in the global urban hierarchy. Hence, the very same analytical lenses used for the examination of efforts to host mega-events (e.g. Gotham 2002, Carmichael 2002, Owen 2002), promote urban tourism (e.g. Mullins 1991, Whitson and Macintosh 1996, Law 2002), or create various urban imaging strategies (Chang 1999, Waitt 1999) and the like can be employed to elucidate the case of urban waterfront regeneration as well. What makes the latter special and also perhaps explains the reason why a large segment of the relevant literature focuses on this subject has to do with the fact that, first, due to previous port-related and industrial activity, the process of de-industrialization often has its most visible impact in these areas (Marshall 2001); and, second, due to their proximity to water and often also to historic city centers, these locations are especially suitable to satisfy the newly rising demands of global capital and its managerial elite.

Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2017 im Fachbereich Medien / Kommunikation - Public Relations, Werbung, Marketing, Social Media, , Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Traditional retailers have been serving a huge percentage of the population who are dependent on them for the provision of various products (Zhou & Zhang, 2007). However, buying goods or services over the internet has been a growing trend attracting huge popularity in the past few years (Cebi, & Bayraktar, 2003). This is principal because more people find it expedient and simple to shop from their offices or homes without the conventional work of going from one shop to another looking for goods and services (Chaffey, 2002). E-shopping or online shopping includes a kind of e-Commerce that lets customers to directly shop for various products and services through the internets virtual shop (Sivakumar & Roy, 2004). With the new e-Commerce platform characterized by e-stores that have incentives and broad varieties of products, the traditional retail system has been significantly affected. E-commerce has slapped the face of the conventional retail business with the fear of helplessness and uncertainty (Teece, 2010).This paper explores the effect of the increasing trend of e-Commerce over the traditional bricks and mortar shop retailing system. It highlights several aspects regarding the manner in which the conventional retail businesses have been affected by the invention and growth of e-Commerce and whether there any strategies that traditional retail businesses are employing as a comeback strategy.
