All of our best dates end up in the emergency room.... I planned the perfect proposal. There was plenty of lobster, caviar, champagne and - her favorite - tiramisu. It was the perfect setting, the perfect woman, the perfect everything. Dad gave me my late mother´s engagement ring, platinum and diamonds galore. Shannon wouldn´t care if I slid a giant hard-candy ring on her finger instead of a three-carat diamond designed to impress. But my future mother-in-law, Marie, will pass out when she sets eyes on that rock, which will give us two minutes of blessed silence. That woman talks more than Kim Kardashian flashes her naked backside on the Internet. I was going to make it perfect, from the color of the tablecloth to the freshness of the roses. And it was perfect...until Shannon swallowed the ring. Shopping for a Billionaire´s Fiancée gives near-billionaire Declan McCormick the chance to tell his story in this continuation of the New York Times and USA Today best-selling Shopping for a Billionaire series. 1. Hollywood in Heels is a sexy, smart, shockingly honest and wickedly hilarious memoir of a young woman finding her way in a city where sex is the primary commodity and illusion the name of the game. Charity Gaye Finnestad is a small-town girl with big dreams: to go to Los Angeles and make it as a writer. With only enough money to survive 60 days, she packs her bags, says goodbye to an unhappy marriage, and hits the road in search of her destiny. Struggling to pay the rent with occasional modeling jobs, Charity suddenly finds herself privy to a high-flying, fast-paced life - sipping champagne at exclusive parties with A-list celebrities in the Hollywood Hills by night, and shopping at the 99-Cent Store by day to stretch her tiny budget. She quickly discovers that in Hollywood, as with anywhere, it’s your relationships that matter. Determined to be true to herself, she sets out to make lasting friendships and maybe even discover true love along the way. Fearless and forthright, Charity delivers the dirt on the ups and downs of living in Tinsel Town. A modern day fairy tale in which the heroine rescues herself and then meets her Prince Charming, Hollywood in Heels is a rollicking fun listen that teaches some very important lessons about life and love. 1. Dorothy Wordsworth believed that feeding her poet brother, William, gooseberry tarts was her part to play in a literary movement. Cockney chef Rosa Lewis became a favourite of King Edward VII, who loved her signature dish of whole truffles boiled in champagne. Eleanor Roosevelt dished up Eggs Mexican - a concoction of rice, fried eggs, and bananas - in the White House. Eva Braun treated herself to champagne and cake in the bunker before killing herself, alongside Adolf Hitler. Barbara Pym´s novels overflow with enjoyment of everyday meals - of frozen fish fingers and Chablis - in midcentury England. Cosmopolitan editor Helen Gurley Brown´s idea of ´having it all´ meant having almost nothing on the plate except a supersized portion of diet gelatin. In the irresistible What She Ate, Laura Shapiro examines the plates, recipe books and shopping trolleys of these six extraordinary women, casting a new light on each of their lives - revealing love and rage, desire and denial, need and pleasure. 1. The 1898 Baseball Fe-As-Ko: Fe-As-Ko Series, Bo...

It seems that the FDR writer is back wanting more Fe-As-Ko stories from cowpoke Royal Leckner. This time it´s 1897, Royal and E.M. have been married about four years. And so have Leviticus and Lou(ella) Perrault, owners of the Four Arrows ranch. Royal is still foreman of the ranch and caretaker of its owner. As he reminds us, Leviticus and Lou(ella) Perrault are ´´short a hat size,´´ but ´´nice and honest, which is better than smart and fox-like any day.´´ It´s time to take the cattle to Portland for the annual sale, and Royal is bringing Leviticus along to teach him how ´´to sign on the dotted line.´´ E.M. foresees trouble in Portland and decides she´d better go along as well. So the cattle gets loaded and all are headed for the city. Except, Leviticus who has managed to walk onto the train, down the aisle and right back off - something has caught his eye. It shouldn´t be a surprise that a long-time rock thrower like Leviticus would get fascinated by a baseball. Once they get Levi back on the train, Lou(ella) says they are going to get themselves a base-ball in Portland. As it turns out (and things do turn out in Royal´s life), the buyer isn´t available when they go to sell the cattle, so it´s declared a day off. E.M´s off to buy hats and Royal goes shopping with Levi and Lou(ella) for a base-ball. Innocently enough, Royal accepts baseball tickets for an exhibition game from one of the local storekeepers. This probably wasn´t the best place to take Leviticus for ´´he may only have a half mind, but the half he does have is damn hard to unset.´´ Worse, Royal runs into E.M.´s half sister and full-time trouble, Augusta, who is also the owner of the Bowery Bulldogs. E.M. shows up and immediately takes exception in finding Royal in the club house drinking champagne with Augusta. Knowing this isn´t going anywhere right, Royal decides to take his new fishing pole and get out of town, leaving E.M. to sell the cattle. Days later, E.M. shows up with a wagon... 1.
