Here is a brand new second edition that has been fully updated. The author is a long-time resident of Budapest, who knows the region intimately and takes us behind the scenes to discover its best features the sights, the places to stay and eat, the shopping, and all the activities. Millions of people every year hike into, bike, drive, or climb into the green valleys and limestone mountain ridges of Hungary s national parks and the hills. Storks, eagles, wrens, blackbirds, woodpeckers, and flocks of thousands make their home in forests, grasslands, and cliff-sides. Majestic antlered stags and deer range the forest. Fresh springs and cold clear creeks tumble down from the mountains. The author takes us there. There are thousands of restaurants and virtually every type of cuisine. Hotels and nightspots are just as numerous and the author guides us to the best of them all. As you walk through the Budapest, you will find literally thousands of statues and monuments. Rose-tinted sunsets and shadowed romance reflect on the Danube, mirroring this city, which has been called the Paris of Eastern Europe and The Pearl of the Danube. The home of two million of the nation´s 10 million people, it is the center of Hungary´s culture, science, industry, and government. There are three basic areas: Buda (including Gellert Hill and Castle Hill), Pest (including District 5 - also known as the Belvaros, and City Park), and Obuda (the largest Roman ruins outside of Rome). Before Christ, fearsome Celts occupied Gellert Hill, the central mountain whose mammoth like shoulders rise from the Danube shore to dominate Buda (site of the imposing Citadel, Freedom Statue, Gellert Statue, lookout points, winding paths, and bathhouses). Late in the first century AD the Romans marched in to establish Aquincum, the capital of the province of Pannonia. North of Gellert Hill, in what is today Obuda, it is the site of extensive Roman ruins. 1. Language: English. Narrator: Adrienne Ellis. It all began with the idea that I wanted to offer recommendations for visitors discovering Valencia in terms of hospitality - in other words: where the best restaurants and bars can be found. I didnt want to write a travel guide about the history and sights of Valencia, reducing the information provided to shopping, night-life, the beach and the immediate surroundings of the city - all of which can be found in the many existing, more traditional guide books. Instead, I wanted to introduce and propose culinary destinations located on these well-trodden tourist routes, offering an opportunity to plan tours that would include them as way stops. In other words: it would be a synthesis of tourism and gastronomy for connoisseurs of good food and drink. And that is exactly what the first edition was. The recommendations given here are quite different to those found in traditional rating portals. They dont reflect the opinions of percentages of restaurant goers or commercial interests - instead, here you will find insider tips for the places locals would recommend to their friends. This second edition of 2016 has continued in the same vein - but now includes other useful information for tourists: things you should know, sights not to miss, where are the best spots on the beach and more. Also included are plenty of new recommendations and additional topics, like the scene quarter Ruzafa. This guide is additionally rounded off with plenty of useful information, like explanations of typical dishes, the translation of their names, opening times of places, bus lines, and eating habits of the Valencianos, the people of Valencia. In this edition, the technical possibilities of eBooks are utilised as much as possible: There are plenty of images, all addresses are linked with Google Maps and can be used for direct navigation, and I have also added information from the internet, like photos and videos, which are also linked here. Christian Roth, born in Berlin, is 55 years old and spends about half of the year in Hamburg, Germany and the other half in Valencia. His wife Marcela is a native Argentinian, who - just like Christian - really enjoys great food. Marcela is fluent in Spanish, which helped to open doors for the couple, allowed them to start a dialogue with locals and helped them to make friends with Valencianos, with whom - no surprises here - they go out for great food and drinks. This book is the result of a great love for the city of Valencia and its culinary offering.

This guide is based on our larger guide to Naples and the surrounding area, but it zeros in on the Sorrento Peninsula & the Amalfi Coast. Plush resorts line the coast and islands, Greek and Roman excavations, plus street theater and musical performances are everywhere. Positano, the most photographed fishing village in the world, clings to a rock above the sea. The unforgettable coastal town of Ravello is here. The superlative Greek temples at Paestum. The author shows you how to experience the area intensely and unforgettably, while providing details about the foods, the sights, the many unforgettable walks and hikes, the best places to stay (whether you want a charming B&B, a 16th-century palazzo or a luxurious spa) and restaurants – all with the insights of an insider. An extensive introduction covers Naples and its surrounding area, including the Sorrento Peninsula, the Bay of Naples, Ischia, Capri, Pompeii, Herculaneum and more. Sections explore the people and their culture, the history of this area, how to get here and get around, where to stay and where to eat, shopping, entertainment, adventures, from walking and hiking to diving, fishing and boating. All the practicalities you need to know are detailed as well from money matters to health issues, internet access to the clothes you will need. 1. Language: English. Narrator: Tom Zingarelli.
