"The 2017 Riesling Wehlener Sonnenuhr Spätlese (Golden Capsule) is very intense on the clear, spicy, crunchy-slatey and nicely reductive nose. Lush and piquant on the crystalline, precisely defined palate, this is a highly elegant, complex and densely textured Spätlese with a long, complex and persistently salty-mineral finish. Ripe peach and mirabelle notes intermingle with salty-piquant slate flavors on the aftertaste. This is a great Spätlese from a great terroir." - Stephan Reinhardt von Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

James Halliday - 90/100 für den Jahrgang 2015  "The wine is indeed very spicy, part ex fruit, part ex oak. The palate escapes the clutches of oak long enough for the finish and aftertaste to bare their notes of plum, cherry and cassis. There's a lot of wine for the price."

As for the 2010 Haut-Brion, it does not have the power of Latour’s 2010 or the intense lead pencil shavings and chocolaty component of Lafite-Rothschild, but it is extraordinary, perfect wine. It has a slightly lower pH than the 2009 (3.7 versus the 2009's 3.8), and even higher alcohol than the 2009 (14.6%). The wine is ethereal. From its dense purple color to its incredibly subtle but striking aromatics that build incrementally, offering up a spectacular smorgasbord of aromas ranging from charcoal and camphor to black currant and blueberry liqueur and spring flowers, this wine’s finesse, elegant yet noble power and authority come through in a compelling fashion. It is full-bodied, but that’s only apparent in the aftertaste, as the wine seems to float across the palate with remarkable sweetness, harmony, and the integration of all its component parts – alcohol, tannin, acidity, wood, etc. This prodigious Haut-Brion is hard to compare to another vintage, at least right now, but it should have 50 to 75 years of aging potential. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: 90-92/100 Punkte  "Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2017 Kirwan has a warm blackberries and black raspberries nose with hints of kirsch, roses and sandalwood. The palate is medium-bodied with plush tannins and plenty of freshness supporting the elegant fruit, finishing perfumed and very pretty."  Trinkgenuss: 2023 bis 2040 Wine Spectator: 89-92/100 Punkte  "Bright and fresh, with fine acidity stretching out the elegant layers of cassis, blackberry, lilac and sandalwood. Pure and refined."  James Suckling: 93/100 Punkte  "Some berry and sweet-tobacco character. Medium body, fresh fruit and a firm tannin backbone. Bright acidity."   Vinous (Neal Martin): 89-91/100 Punkte "The 2017 Kirwan has a slightly smudged bouquet that does not quite deliver the detail of its peers: raspberry preserve and crushed strawberry at first, then light sous-bois and smoke aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly angular tannin, not as cohesive as I would have liked although I appreciate the cracked black pepper note on the aftertaste. This is a château that I feel can produce great Margaux however, the 2017 does not possess the nuance and complexity of the best examples from the appellation." Wine Enthusiast: 95/100 Punkte "Barrel Sample. Layers of black currant fruit and ripe tannins give this wine an elegant character. It is not powerful, but is certainly balanced and full of fruit. It will age well over the medium-term, meaning it will be ready to drink from 2023." Decanter: 91/100 Punkte  "This is well extracted, with dark berry fruits, attractive tobacco leaf and charcoal notes. It has that same savoury frame that so many from Margaux have this year, and the fruit character is not bursting with generosity but is still expressive and lyrical. It really does offer something for those looking for a more sculpted wine. Medium term drinking. Wine Spectator: 88-91/100 Punkte "A light singed alder hint leads the way here, along with light bay leaf and savory notes, while the core of gently steeped black cherry and plum fruit fills in slowly. Shows modest intensity through the finish but the flavors knit nicely”  James Suckling: 94/100 Punkte "Dark currant, berry and fresh herb character. Full-bodied, juicy and flavorful. Very structured. Solid finish and length. Better than 2014?”  Vinous (Neal Martin): 91-93/100 Punkte "The 2017 Brane-Cantenac was picked from 14 September to 2 October at 31.2hl/ha after frost destroyed 35% of the vines in April. It is matured in 75% new oak and 25% one-year old and it has 13% alcohol. It has a tightly wound bouquet with broody black fruit, tar and a touch of graphite, very Pauillac in style as usual. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, very linear and precise, not a deep Margaux and unashamedly classic in style with dry, slightly brusque tannin. The finish is dominated by tobacco and pencil lead notes with healthy pinch of pepper on the aftertaste. Classic Brane-Cantenac through and through. Tasted on three occasions. Trinkreife: 2022-2040" Wine Enthusiast: 91-93/100 Punkte "Barrel Sample. While the wood flavors are palpable in this wine, so are the firm tannins and dense black fruit. These elements suggest a wine that will have power and great concentration while also generous blackberry fruits. Drink from 2024." Decanter: 93/100 Punkte "A lovely wine that sits extremely prettily though the palate, with a seductive expression of florality and blackberry fruits. It´s not as powerful as the past two years, but is skilfully worked with soft grilled oak notes. It doesn´t sacrifice the excellent quality that this estate has been producing." Maigret savoured the sensations of his youth again: the cold, stinging eyes, frozen fingertips, an aftertaste of coffee. Then, stepping inside the church, a blast of heat, soft light; the smell of candles and incense. The last time Maigret went home to the village of his birth was for his father's funeral. Now an anonymous note predicting a crime during 'All Souls' Day mass draws him back there, where troubling memories resurface and hidden vices are revealed. Georges Simenon was born in Liège, Belgium, in 1903. Best known in Britain as the author of the Maigret books, his prolific output of over 400 novels and short stories have made him a household name in continental Europe. He died in 1989 in Lausanne, Switzerland, where he had lived for the latter part of his life. ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Gareth Armstrong. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: 96+ Punkte »Tasted blind at the Southwold 2012 tasting, the 2012 Haut-Brion has an open and generous bouquet with blackcurrant pastille, cassis and briary aromas the exude very pure Merlot. The palate is medium-bodied with a sumptuous opening that is rare in 2012: rounded and generous, caressing in the mouth with black plum and blackcurrant towards the finish, residues of truffle and white pepper lingering on the aftertaste that turn very savory after 15 minutes—bacon fat or Italian cured meats. There is a lot to love about this Haut-Brion although in this blind showing I scored it the same as La Mission Haut-Brion. Who will stick their neck out as the two wines mature? Tasted January 2016.« Genussreife: 2022 - 2055 James Suckling: 96 Punkte »Amazing aromas of wet stones, earth, currants and berries. Subtle and complex. Full body and a beautiful core of ripe fruit on the palate and the finish. Round, light, chewy tannins. Needs at least four or five years to open. This is the most merlot ever in Haut-Brion. Rich too. One of the wines of the vintage. 65.5% merlot, 32.5% cabernet sauvignon and 25 cabernet franc.« Wine Enthusiast: 96 Punkte »Firm and solid, this is one of the successes of 2012. It's properly dark and tough at this stage, with that serious intent that's a hallmark of Haut-Brion. Layers of firm tannins are interspersed with blackberry fruits and juicy acidity. The wine is dense and concentrated, with the wood aging still showing. This powerful wine will need many years. Drink from 2024.« Decanter: 95 Punkte »Dense velvety red, rich earthy black fruits on the nose, both lively and smooth, terrific class is there with the ripe Haut-Brion tannins that give a subtle grip to the very polished, Merlot-dominated fruit.« Genussreife: 2017-2035 Falstaff: 94 Punkte »Dunkles Rubingranat, violette Reflexe, zarte Randaufhellung, feine Herzkirschen, ein Hauch von Nougat, angenehme Kräuterwürze, facettenreiche Nuancen, ein Hauch von Orangenzesten.

(93-95 Punkte) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: 91-93/100 Punkte  "Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2017 Malescot St. Exupery is scented of crushed red and black cherries, warm plums and mulberries with touches of roses and wood smoke. The palate is medium-bodied with plenty of vibrant red and black fruits and soft, plush tannins, with a long, perfumed finish."  James Suckling 94/100 Punkte "A fantastic 2017 from Margaux with a deep and ripe core of fruit in the center palate. Silky and juicy tannins. Full body, plenty of fruit and a long, flavorful finish."  Wine Spectator 90-93/100 Punkte "A breezy and fresh style, with pretty damson plum and cherry fruit lined with high-pitched floral and savory notes. Elegant mineral details run through the silky finish. Pure and graceful, showing sneaky length."  Vinous (Neal Martin): 91-93/100 Punkte "The 2017 Malescot St. Exupéry has a simpler bouquet than recent vintages with high-toned red cherry and raspberry fruit, quite "warm" compared to its peers and it would benefit from a little more delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin. It is not a complex Malescot St. Exupéry but I admire the balance and focus. There is plenty of tightly wound red berry fruit laced with cedar and smoke, quite finessed towards the finish with a long spicy aftertaste. I would just like the aromatics to step up to the grade of the palate, so let's see how this shows once in bottle. Trinkreife: 2022-2040"   Wine Enthusiast: 92/100 Punkte "Barrel Sample. This is a fruit-driven wine, packed with a strong black-currant character and bright acidity. The tannins are light, though they lend ample structure for medium-term aging. It is more about freshness and attractive fruit. Drink from 2023."  Bitte beachten Sie die Sonderbedingungen der Subskription in unseren AGB.

Theodosia Browning has never considered herself a wine connoisseur - tea has always been her forte. But that doesn’t mean she’s going to pass up an invitation to a fancy wine-tasting party at the upscale Knighthall Winery, just outside of Charleston, South Carolina. But a sweet evening takes on a bitter aftertaste when a dead body is discovered in one of the wine barrels. The son of proprietor Jordan Knight has been murdered. Dissatisfied with the police investigation, Knight turns to Theo for help. She’s heard through the grapevine that there are both family and business problems at Knighthall. They say in vino veritas, but everyone at the winery seems to be lying through their teeth. Sorting through the guest list as well as family and staff, Theo has her pick of suspects. It may look like the killer has her over a barrel, but cracking tough cases is vintage Theodosia Browning. ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Barbara McCulloh.
