Due to their increasing importance to production growth and vital relation with various productive sectors in society, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) have become some of the key instruments to face economic and social problems and achieve development objectives in most industrial and developing countries. Their contributions to employment creation, productivity improvement, and income generation are underutilized in the Arab countries at a time when economic transformation is shifting the onus for productivity from the public sector to the private sector. Population growth and economic restructuring in many Arab countries make the creation of substantial new employment opportunities a necessity. SMEs play a significant role in Arab countries, both in terms of the total number of enterprises, as well as their contribution to employment levels. This book ultimate aim is to layout some general principles of support to enhancing the competitiveness of SMEs in the Arab countries. ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Sri Gordon. The ultimate escapist adventure story, The Prisoner of Zenda transports the listener into a bygone era, awash with swashbuckling heroism, cunning plots, and courtly love. The popularity of Hope’s tale of intrigue was such that it spawned an entirely new genre known as the "Ruritanian romance". When the King of Ruritania is kidnapped, the onus falls on a British tourist, who bears an uncanny resemblance to the king, to stand in for him and to avert disaster by coming to his rescue. The frequent replays of the film with Ronald Colman and Douglas Fairbanks Jr. testify to the continuing popularity of this evergreen adventure. Andrew Pugsley’s reading captures the excitement and the momentum.PLEASE NOTE: When you purchase this title, the accompanying reference material will be available in your My Library section along with the audio. ungekürzt. James Marlow and Cynthia Coffman were a troubled couple who were convicted of murdering five people during a deadly rampage that spanned multiple states. The last two victims, 20-year old Corrina Novis and 19-year old Lynell Murray were kidnapped and found strangled and sodomized, and the murderous pair were found guilty of the crimes. Whereas both Marlow and Coffman received the death penalty for Novis' death, Marlow received a second death sentence for Murray's while Coffman was sentence to life without the possibility of parole in Murray's murder. Both defendants sought to shift the onus of blame to the other with Marlow claiming it was Coffman's idea to kill the girls while he only wanted to rob them and Coffman alleging that she was the victim of battered women's syndrome. Neither ploy was successful as the pair were convicted across the board for robbery, kidnapping, sodomy, and murder. Coffman has the distinction of being the first woman sentenced to death in California following the state's reinstatement of the death penalty in 1977. ungekürzt. Language: English. Please note: This is a review and analysis of the book, not the original book. Most would agree that the great recession of 2008 was unprecedented. Although it wasn't quite like the depression of 1929, it was worse in other ways. It took most government politicians and central banks off guard and so they had to scramble to find a solution to the underlying causes. They took the onus completely on themselves to solve the issue. They have effectively become the only game in town when it comes to growing the economy. Mohamed A. El-Erian, in his wonderful book The Only Game in Town: Central Banks, Instability, and Avoiding the Next Collapse, goes into some depth as to how the central banks tried to stave off complete collapse and what we can be done to avoid the next collapse. In this review, we will analyze, discuss, and summarize the key points in The Only Game in Town: Central Banks, Instability, and Avoiding the Next Collapse. Enjoy! ungekürzt. Language: English. As ever, the onus is on brands to find compelling ways to earn the attention of the consumer. Yet content scarcity has given way to overload, fixed channels have dissolved into fluid networks, and audiences have become participants in consumer-driven conversations. This shift requires a new course of action for brands; it demands new marketing imperatives. Paid Attention is a guide to modern advertising ideas: what they are, why they are evolving and how to have them. Spanning communication theory, neuroscience, creativity and innovation, media history, branding and emerging technologies, it explores the strategic creation process and how to package ideas to attract the most attention in the advertising industry. Packed with real-world examples of advertising campaigns for companies including Sony, Red Bull, HP and many more, Paid Attention provides a robust model for influencing human behaviour. Referencing a wide body of theory and praxis, from behavioural economics and sociology to technology and even science fiction, Faris Yakob maps advertising onto a wider analysis of culture. Containing practical advertising and branding templates, including a new advertising planning toolkit, it is ideal for students and practitioners looking to get noticed in today’s cluttered marketplace. ungekürzt. Secrets and Leaks examines the complex relationships among executive power, national security, and secrecy. State secrecy is vital for national security, but it can also be used to conceal wrongdoing. How then can we ensure that this power is used responsibly? Typically, the onus is put on lawmakers and judges, who are expected to oversee the executive. Yet, because these actors lack access to the relevant information and the ability to determine the harm likely to be caused by its disclosure, they often defer to the executive's claims about the need for secrecy. As a result, potential abuses are more often exposed by unauthorized disclosures published in the press. But should such disclosures, which violate the law, be condoned? Drawing on several cases, Rahul Sagar argues that though whistleblowing can be morally justified, the fear of retaliation usually prompts officials to act anonymously - that is, to "leak" information. As a result, it becomes difficult for the public to discern when an unauthorized disclosure is intended to further partisan interests. Because such disclosures are the only credible means of checking the executive, Sagar writes, they must be tolerated. However, the public should treat such disclosures skeptically and subject irresponsible journalism to concerted criticism. ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Michael Butler Murray. They're the best of friends or the worst of friends. Neither one is letting go.The flame. Here lies Louchana Valentine. He was mine. He just didn't know it yet.And with Wren keeping me safe, I've got time left to rewrite the end of my story. But if he has his way, virgin is already carved in stone. The moth.I've never known anyone as alluring as Lou. Or as frustrating. Since the night she saved my life and stole my wallet for her troubles, I couldn't stay away. She became my onus. My light. My...anyway.With nowhere to run, I'm forced to trust someone I never expected. At least with Lou safe in Blackwood Keep - far away from me - I'll die with my conscience intact. Because she no longer looks at me with friendship in her eyes. Moms didn’t ask to be the household manager, yet many find themselves coming home from work to a team that struggles to help. Other handbooks put the onus on mom to figure out how to motivate the team, but what if dad and the kids got together and figured it out for themselves? What would it be like to no longer have to ask for things to happen, but they happened because that’s just the standard – clear counters, floors, and a clutter-free environment? In Without Being Asked: How Can Dads and Kids Help Around the House to Reduce Burnout?, a pharmacist dad and his triplet eight-year-old daughters work to find their own decluttering way. After a few weeks of missteps, the house now remains consistently clutter free. Progress continues on new organizing projects and the general level of stress and anxiety that comes with a multiple-kid household is much lower.Imagine after a long day at work, having a completely uncluttered walk from the entrance of the house to the bedroom. The kitchen countertops and floors are clear of clutter, the kids’ coats and shoes are on hangers and in cubbies, and the laundry baskets stand empty. You ask your kids why their hair is wet; they say, “Dad gave us baths.” Then, when you ask about dinner and homework, they say, “Maybe you need to relax in the bath, Mom, we already finished it. By the way, Dad left some food for you in the fridge.” ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Tony Guerra. Audio sample: https://samples.audible.de/bk/acx0/187936/bk_acx0_187936_sample.mp3.
