Forty-plus years into a quite extraordinary career, Depeche Mode remain the most successful electronic band ever, having to date sold over 100 million records worldwide. The group have had 54 songs in the UK Singles Chart and 17 Top 10 albums in the UK chart, they have sold more than 100 million records worldwide. And as they continue to release new and challenging material and perform in front of crowds that can exceed 80,000 in a single night, the enormous popularity of these former Essex Boys illustrates how their resolute determination to stick with their original vision has repaid them handsomely in the long term. This documentary film traces the almost surreal development of Depeche Mode from their flirtations with New Romanticism at the dawn of their career, through the urban industrial landscapes envisaged on Construction Time Again and Some Great Reward into the dark hollow of albums such as Black Celebration, Music For The Masses and Violator to conclude with the departure of Alan Wilder in 1995 - a point in their career at which they had achieved enormous commercial success but were now facing huge personal challenges. Featuring interviews with all the band members, contributions from friends, colleagues and contemporaries such as, Gary Numan, Thomas Dolby, OMD's Andy McCluskey, Daniel Miller, band biographer Jonathan Miller, Depeche producers Gareth Jones, Dave Bascombe, Phil Legg and Steve Lyon, and electronic music experts Mark Prendergast and David Stubbs. Also includes, archive footage, video clips, location shoots, news reports and much more. EXTRA FEATURES INCLUDE - Extended interviews, Contributor Biographies.

After the expectations created with their acclaimed "Live In NYC" EP, two years of non-stop touring and winning the prestigious 'Rock en la Gruta' award, Love Division finally present their long awaited debut album, "The Velvet Revolution", recorded at Madrid's Geek Studio and at Sun Studio in Memphis, and produced by Fernando Pardo. "The Velvet Revolution" is an album full of energy, raw power, elegance, darkness and lyricism. Full of powerful guitar driven rock songs, of suggestive choruses and skin deep emotion, of violence and the peace that follows violence, of riffs, nihilism and decadence. And most importantly, full of great songs. "We have tried to stress the importance of the concept of a song throughout the album, with the intention of creating a hit with each single track. Each one of these songs is aimed at becoming a generational anthem. It may sound pretentious, but it's the truth". From the declaration of principles of album opener 'Nothing We Believe In', to the strength and raw energy of 'Troubled Ways' or 'This Is The Warzone', through the touching 'For Nothing' or 'The Velvet Revolution', the painful 'Angelene' or the goodbye represented by 'Life Will Never Be The Same', "The Velvet Revolution" is a sonic explosion of excess and redemption that awakens the senses and slaps them in the face. "With each song, through the riffs, the lyrics, the melodies, our intention is to move something inside the listener, something very deep. With force and with words, with fists and with tears, with a one-two punch goal: a punch to the jugular and a punch to the heart. Double impact". The sound sculpted by Fernando Pardo enriches Ricardo de Abiega's strong and elegant voice, surrounded by powerful guitars and powered by a rhythm section that is as blunt as it is subtle. "We knew what we wanted to sound like, and I think we have managed to get the best out of each song." Their ambitions were not precisely humble: "We wanted to combine the nerve of NIN's "The Downward Spiral" and the violence of Nirvana's "Nevermind" with the elegance of Depeche Mode's "Violator" and the moving energy of Johnny Cash's "American Recordings". All this with a guitar, bass, drums and military discipline. We are very demanding with ourselves". The Velvet Revolution is not just a collection of good songs. The lyrics also deserve very special attention, becoming a key aspect in the album: "Lyrics should be crucial in every musical creation, and we wanted to grant them that relevance". Lyrics are emotional and touching, raw and confessional. "Each song represents it's own little world, but there is a cohesive element throughout the record, which is the relationship between the individual and the world that surrounds him. From media and political alienation thru personal disappointment, each day should be a vindication of who we are and what we are in this world for. A declaration of independence of thought and the birth of something new and something better. A velvet revolution". In the upcoming months the band will be back on the road to present their acclaimed live shows. A fresh new face with a brand new sound and a lot to say in the rock scene. "We want to look people right in the eye and spit out our truth. The closer, the better. Love Division cannot be understood without live shows". When Love Division speaks, they are loud, clear and straight to the point. "We have the songs, the band, the drive and the ambition. We can't fail. We want to be in the end year 'best of' lists". It's the revolution. Rock & Roll is dead. Long live Rock & Roll 'The Velvet Revolution' - Reviews: "Overwhelming in form and content. An amazing production and the best set of songs conceived this year in the country's rock scene. Ten ton riffs, wonderful melodies and the elegance of the dark side. An amazing rock album that has a lot to enjoy. Without a doubt, a record that makes it to the top of what has been produced in this country." Rock And Roll Army "A solid and attractive record in it's variety, energy and bluntness. With "The Velvet Revolution" Love Division has made one of the albums of the year in this country." Orpheo Fanzine "Tags don't work here, this is Rock music, but Rock produced in 2009: a few drops of punk, acoustic guitars with beautiful crossover songs and indisputable melodies chained like a rollercoaster of emotions that closes with two hits to be remembered: "The Velvet Revolution" and the perfect end of "Life Will Never be The Same". Beware, an amazing album." Viva Las Vegas, Radio Enlace "Expectations are fully met. Rock and roll flows through their veins with the intensity of an electroshock. The intensity that exhales from songs like "Troubled Ways" or "I Bleed When You Bleed" tells us about a band that can stand shoulder to shoulder with the likes of Sex Museum, Backyard Babies or Diamond Dogs. " Mondo Sonoro "The Velvet Revolution is one of my favourite rock albums of the past few years. An overwhelming record." Time For Action! "There is soul in this record, there is talent and there is variety (from Johnny Cash to Social Distonrtion). I hope the mainstream media discovers this album, it's so much worth it that these lines run short of emotion." Despachopop.
