Zum anderen erörtert der Autor, welche genrespezifischen Erfolgsdeterminanten des Gangsterfilms sich dadurch erkennen lassen und wie die allgemeinen Erfolgsfaktoren von Filmen auf die Filmauswahl angewendet wurden. Der Forschungsgegenstand dieser Arbeit sind die vier Filme "Der Pate" (1972), "Goodfellas" (1990), "City of God" (2002) und "Chiko" (2008), die in angehängten Sequenzprotokollen methodisch untersucht werden und zur Untermauerung der Erkenntnisse dienen.
