We wont bore you with the specifics, but the fact that this release is finally seeing the light of day in the wake of the bands stunning 4th album 'Grievances' -their first full-length on Holy Roar - and coinciding with Holy Roar's ten year celebrations, seems somewhat fitting. It was worth the effort though: this is an incredible documentation of both Rolo Tomassi's ongoing evolution and the continuing support of the BBC for such an innovative, daring band. Working in reverse-chronological order, the first four tracks (Howl, Old Mystics, Empiresk and Illuminare) are taken from the Radio 1 Rock Show, presented by Daniel P Carter, recorded early 2013. Three of these tracks were drawn from 2012's Astraea, along with the standalone, lesser known single 'Old Mystics'. The latter five tracks are drawn from a session recorded for Huw Stephens back at the beginning of 2008. Drawing mostly upon material from early EPs and 7"s, this session also includes an early version of 'I Love Turbulence', a full seven months prior to the release of 'Hysterics'. All nine tracks were recorded live and mixed at the legendary BBC Maida Vale studios and mastered for this release by Brad Boatright (Converge, Sunn O)))). This is probably as pure and raw a representation of the many faces of Rolo Tomassi that you will hear.

ROLO TOMASSI will release their third studio album - 'Astraea' - on November 5th. The new album will be released by Destination Moon Records, the band's own label that has already released records by bands including Holland and Kappa Gamma as well as last year's Eternal Youth ROLO TOMASSI anthology album. The band, which was originally founded in Sheffield and is now based between Nottingham and Brighton, will tour the release across the UK and Europe from October (all tour dates below). The band will be touring across the UK in October, including a London show on Halloween, and will follow it up with a European tour in November. The band will also be touring across the world in 2013 with a number of major headline shows and exciting support shows. 'Astrea' is the band's first album since Nathan Fairweather and Chris Cayford joined the band at the end of last year, and was recorded by Jason Sanderson. Jason was the man behind the band's debut album 'Hysterics', and has worked with a host of other bands including 65 Days of Static and Brontide. 'Astraea' will hopefully cement Rolo Tomassi's place as one of the most exciting and expansive bands in the British rock community. The album includes some of the most direct, heaviest tracks the band has ever written including album opener Howl and Echopraxia, which sees the band at their most technical, as well as a number of songs that showcases the band's melodic progressive side including Illuminare, which highlights the lighter beauty of Eva Spence's vocals.
