La protagonista è una donna innamorata, che vaga nei pressi di via Marina, in una Napoli appena uscita dalla catastrofica crisi ecologica dei rifiuti urbani. Il motore narrativo del racconto è l'amore di Eleonora per Flavio, un medico umanitario che muore di cancro un anno dopo il loro ultimo incontro in un bar di via marina, nei pressi dell'ospedale Loreto Mare; nello stesso bar inizia il viaggio di Eleonora. Lei ha ancora nel suo divenire gli echi della contestazione degli anni Sessanta-settanta e, dalla disillusione politica, approda "sull'isola dell'amore" come terapia divina, cosmica.
