George Rogers Clark: "I Glory in War" , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 844min
George Rogers Clark (1752-1818) led four victorious campaigns against the Indians and British in the Ohio Valley during the American Revolution, but his most astonishing coup was recapturing Fort Sackville in 1779 when he was only 26. For 18 days, in the dead of winter, Clark and his troops marched through bone-chilling nights to reach the fort. With a deft mix of guile and violence, Clark led his men to triumph without losing a single soldier. William R. Nester resurrects the story of Clark's triumphs and his downfall in this, the first full biography of the man in more than 50 years. Nester attributes Clark's successes to his drive and daring, good luck, charisma, and intellect. Born of a distinguished Virginia family, Clark wielded an acute understanding of human nature, both as a commander and as a diplomat. His interest in the natural world was an inspiration to lifelong friend Thomas Jefferson, who asked him in 1784 to lead a cross-country expedition to the Pacific and back. Clark turned Jefferson down. Two decades later, his youngest brother, William, would become the Clark celebrated as a member of the Corps of Discovery. After the revolution, he raged against the government and pledged fealty to other nations, leading to his arrest under the Sedition Act. He died at the age of 65, bitter, crippled, and alcoholic. Be Heard: The Step-by-Step System to Building an Audience, Getting Attention and Creating Content That Gets Shared , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 88min
Have you ever dreamed of running a business from home, writing about topics that you love? Do you already have a business that you want to bring more customers to? Or maybe you just want to make a difference and have a message you want to share? Either way, the web is the best place to do this, and thanks to the Internet, we now have the means to contact anyone on the planet and to reach a huge audience with whatever message we want to share. Unfortunately though, so does everyone else.... Standing out online is more important today than ever before. The days of direct ads are now firmly behind us, and studies show that a tweet or social media post from the right person is now much more valuable than even a prime time advert on television. But people are getting savvy and if you're going to get noticed you need to start seeing differently. In a world that's full of constant overstimulation, many of us now suffer from "banner blindness". Trying to get someone to sit up and take notice of you is the name of the game, and you won't do that by using the same tired methods that worked 10, five or even two years ago. So how do you stand out and be known as the go-to person in your field? I've created this guide to address this subject so you can finally reap the benefits and gain more leads and more sales. ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Carl Hausman. The Lost Stagecoach: Loner with a Badge, Book 3 , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 242min
Before the gunman approached, Hank turned to walk back up the incline as though to lead the hostage taker to his partner. Again, he passed Stone without missing a step. This not only led the varmint onward, but placed Hank out of the crossfire. As things went, there wasn't a crossfire. Stone waited until the man was within about 30 feet. Drawing a bead between his eyes, he blew out the back of his head, leaving him with no further inclination to proceed. Before the outlaw could fall to lie where he was shot, the women screamed and Hank dove for cover. For all practical purposes it was over. But Stone wasn't one to risk his life on a postulation. Standing in a crouching position, he took several shells from his pocket and replaced his spent ammunition. A chill went up his spine as he realized he had just fired the last round in the magazine. Stone and his fellow deputies now have five prisoners, including a woman. These outlaws, along with the three he was forced to kill a few days before and another four the lawmen killed this morning, should wrap up this thing. All they have to do now is escort the prisoners to the nearest jail, however far that may be. But something about the best laid plans of men and mice soon comes into play. No sooner have they reached the nearest telegraph office and informed the stage owner his troubles have been resolved, when things take a nasty turn. In his reply, the owner tells Stone another stage has been robbed and another is missing. Stone will have to leave the prisoners with the other deputies and turn back. This time, he does not intend to take any prisoners. ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Carl Hausman. Audio sample: https://samples.audible.de/bk/acx0/064942/bk_acx0_064942_sample.mp3. Bad Day for the Hangman: Loner with a Badge, Book 1 , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 424min
Abruptly standing, toppling his chair in the process, Dobbs grabbed for his gun and yelled, "Stone, you sumbitch, I'm going to kill you." The sudden move with no warning surprised Dobbs' new partners, but since the dance had begun, they had no choice but to join. Rising to his feet, Bill inadvertently placed himself directly between Dobbs and Stone. Dobbs fired, but missed. Bill, standing at that exact moment, blocked his view. Stone, seeing the move in his fringe vision, reacted accordingly, getting off two shots intended for Dobbs. The rounds failed to reach their target due to the fact Bill was now in the line of fire. However, the shots weren't wasted. One slug caught Bill in the upper back. The other took off his hat. Along with his hat came a large portion of brain matter. It was simply astonishing the havoc a .45 caliber slug could play on the human body. More so, the head. Bill toppled towards Dobbs, taking him out of the action for a fraction of a second. In the same blur of movement, Stone saw Dobbs' other cohort firing at the sheriff. He, in turn, fired three shots at the shooter. The first shot missed entirely. The second round caught him in the chest and the third caught him in the middle of the forehead. That seemed to discourage him from taking any further participation. Stone turned his attention back to Dobbs, who had lost his balance when Bill toppled into him. Dobbs got off a couple of shots while regaining his balance. They came close, but missed. Pulling the trigger again, Stone was rewarded with the dreaded sound of metal striking metal as the hammer fell on an expended casing. In pursuit of two desperate outlaws, Stone rides into the sleepy little town of Abbot. After dodging an outlaw's bullet, he captures them, but is forced to kill one after the fact. Placing the remaining prisoner in the ramshackle jail, he meets a beautiful Mexican girl. Ironically, she has a personal vendetta against ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Carl Hausman.
