Advanced Microeconomics for Contract, Institutional, and Organizational Economics (eBook, ePUB)
A graduate textbook on microeconomics, covering decision theory, game theory, and the foundations of contract theory, with a unique focus on the empirical. This graduate-level text on microeconomics, covering such topics as decision theory, game theory, bargaining theory, contract theory, trade under asymmetric information, and relational contract theory, is unique in its emphasis on the interplay between theory and evidence. It reviews the microeconomic theory of exchange "from the ground up," aiming to produce a set of models and hypotheses amenable to empirical exploration, with particular focus on models that are useful for the study of contracts, institutions, and organizations. It explores research that extends price theory to the exchange of commodities when markets are incomplete, discussing recent developments in the field. Topics covered include the relationship between theory and evidence; decision theory as it is used in contract theory and institutional design; game theory; axiomatic and strategic bargaining theory; agency theory and the class of models that are considered to constitute contract theory, with discussions of moral hazard and trade with asymmetric information; and the theory of relational contracts. The final chapter offers a nontechnical review that provides a guide to which model is the most appropriate for a particular application. End-of-chapter exercises help students expand their understanding of the material, and an appendix provides brief introduction to optimization theory and the welfare theorem of general equilibrium theory. Students are assumed to be familiar with general equilibrium theory and basic constrained optimization theory.- Shop: buecher

Utilitarianism, Hörbuch, Digital, 200min
An influential contributor to social theory, political theory, and political economy, his conception of liberty justified the freedom of the individual in opposition to unlimited state control. He was a proponent of utilitarianism, an ethical theory developed by Jeremy Bentham, although his conception of it was very different from Bentham's. Hoping to remedy the problems found in an inductive approach to science, such as confirmation bias, he clearly set forth the premises of falsification as the key component in the scientific method.Mill was also a Member of Parliament and an important figure in liberal political philosophy. John Stuart Mill’s view on liberty, which was influenced by Joseph Priestley and Josiah Warren, is that the individual ought to be free to do as he wishes unless he harms others. Individuals are rational enough to make decisions about their good being and choose any religion they want to. Government should interfere when it is for the protection of society.Mill explains, “The sole end for which mankind are warranted, individually or collectively, in interfering with the liberty of action of any of their number, is self-protection. That the only purpose for which power can be rightfully exercised over any member of a civilized community, against his will, is to prevent harm to others. His own good, either physical or moral, is not sufficient warrant. He cannot rightfully be compelled to do or forbear because it will be better for him to do so, because it will make him happier, because, in the opinion of others, to do so would be wise, or even right...The only part of the conduct of anyone, for which he is amenable to society, is that which concerns others. In the part which merely concerns him, his independence is, of right, absolute. Over himself, over his own body and mind, the individual is sovereign.” Language: English. Narrator: Jamey Lewis. Egypt to Canaan: Brethren Writers Library, Book 15 , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 259min
In Egypt to Canaan, John Ritchie traces the epic journey of the Israelites from their redemption by blood all the way to the promised land. These incidents in Israel's history are illustrative pictures, or "types" (in the book of Hebrews they are called patterns, figures, and shadows), from which God will teach us important spiritual lessons if we are willing to learn them. It is profitable to hear about these things to learn again of the power and grace of God, the love and sacrifice of our Savior, and the never-failing resources available for us as we travel through the wilderness of this world. Christ is the key to all these parts of holy scripture, for everything was pointing forward to him. This was an unholy and often stiff-necked people (like ourselves). They were amenable to the wrath of a holy God, yet how wonderful it is to see how God would find a way by which he might dwell among them and fulfill his purposes about them. "Egypt is a figure of this world where Satan rules, where the flesh is ministered to, and where it has plenty to feed upon, and whereas sinners we are found to be the servants of Satan." "Canaan is not really a type of what a believer enters after death when he departs to be with Christ, for there we shall be at rest. In Canaan we must handle the sword and shield, as in Ephesians 6, in conflict with wicked spirits who would dispute our right and hinder our enjoyment of what grace has given to us...." The short chapters of this book are self-contained studies of topics of spiritual value. In the belief that such teaching is timeless in its relevance and applicability, this is a new edition in a style, format, and language suited to the present day. ungekürzt. Language: English. Mastering Git (eBook, ePUB)
Mastering Git: A Beginner's Guide introduces developers of all ages to the wonderful and useful world of Git. As far as software development is considered, the advent of Git has truly proven to be a milestone. If you are a software developer, you have probably already heard of Git. Its importance and functionality in the world of coding merits very high praise for a variety of reasons. Computers now have become very amenable machines. You can remove a significant section of the text from your work accidentally, but there is no need to panic. Simply use the Undo option and you're good. This, however, was not the case in the early days of development. Back then, developers did not have access to any such technology, and it was only one person who used to own the master copy of a work. This person would divide the code into specific parts, which would subsequently be divided between developers, who would work on their part and make their completed submissions independent of each other. This was followed by a standard check, after which the old version was completely replaced by the new version. This was a very tedious process-unless someone had beenvery proactive with making copies of the code, the previous versions of a file were often effectively lost. Thankfully, a significant breakthrough came in 1972 when developer Marc Rochkind invented the Source Code Control System (SCCS), which was the very first form of Version Control System (VCS). It was limited in terms of its functionality, and could allow only one person to work on it at a time, while concurrent management had to be handled using locks. But we have come a long way since then. Today, Git is the single most-used VCS out there. Its influence on coding and development, in particular, the innovative use of "branches" in order to facilitate collaboration for projects, cannot be over-emphasized. Version Control has become an indispensable part of our lives, and being familiar with the functioning of Git is something employers deem highly important. Mastering Git will prove to be of tremendous help to developers of all spheres in learning Git and Version Control. This book offers information on a wide array of subjects pertaining to Git, and even briefly touches upon its history, advantages, and disadvantages. Mastering Git also offers tips on installation and different elements involved in its functioning, such as Repositories, Remotes, Aliases, Tagging, and Branches. Popular services and hosts for such Git projects as GitHub, GitLab, and Bitbucket are also discussed in detail. This book will prove to be a handy guide for both newbie learners and trained professionals. Andreas Gursky – Long shot close up
Andreas Gursky (born 1955) is one of the most successful contemporary photographers in the world. For two years, filmmaker Jan Schmidt-Garre accompanied the photographer in the creation of “Hamm, Bergwerk Ost”. From the first viewings of the motive to actually taking the photographs and then digitally processing the final image, he traces the course of the photograph to its final destination in the collection of the Ukrainian collector Victor Pinchuk. In an amenable and open manner, Gursky himself, along with experts and mentors such as Werner Spies and Hilla Becher, introduces us to the technical and aesthetic approach to his art.- Shop: odax
