In this beautiful exposition of the unmerited kindness of King David toward the poor lame orphan Mephibosheth, we see a picture of the kindness of God, through Jesus Christ. The condition of fallen man, the wondrous grace of God in His kindness to poor lost sinners and the privileges of conferred sonship - "and thou shalt eat bread at my table continually" - are clearly brought out by this gifted expositor. This book is part of the Brethren Writers Library series. These books go forth with the purpose of introducing the listener to the writings of men who were gifted of God as teachers 'for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ'. ungekürzt. My career in the death care profession spanned a decade but encompassed the industry from several perspectives. What tied all these together was my role as a driver for the dead. Sometimes I was a funeral driver, other times I picked up from morgues, and in another capacity I picked up the deceased from the scenes of car accidents, shootings, hit and runs, and worse. Finally, I cleaned up after homicides, accidents, and suicides as a side business. I could have organized it in a logical, linear fashion, but that's not how I remember it. My experiences varied widely and the pacing of the job was frenetic, fascinating, heartbreaking, and strangely edifying. Like death itself, it was always unpredictable. ungekürzt. Language: English. Bring history back to life through Jim Hodges' historically accurate, exciting, and edifying audio recordings. Dwight Lyman Moody was one of the most famous Evangelists of the 19th century, giving thousands of sermons in hundreds of cities throughout the United States and England. He and his song leader, Ira Sankey, preached the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the highest and lowest members of society, using everyday examples and a common-man approach that enthralled them all. His sermons are clear and compelling, dispelling the common arguments against accepting God's offer of salvation with forceful but simple arguments. These sermons were written exactly as Mr. Moody spoke them and recorded by Jim Hodges. Charming, vibrant, witty and edifying, The Life of Samuel Johnson is a work of great obsession and boundless reverence. The literary critic Samuel Johnson was 54 when he first encountered Boswell; the friendship that developed spawned one of the greatest biographies in the history of world literature. The book is full of humorous anecdote and rich characterization, and paints a vivid picture of 18th-century London, peopled by prominent personalities of the time such as Sir Joshua Reynolds, John Wilkes, Oliver Goldsmith and David Garrick, while also giving a compelling insight into Johnson's complex humanity - his depression, fear of death, intellectual brilliance and rough humor. Strategic planning and its execution work best when strategy development goes beyond surface-level problems to examine what really makes an organization function. Reed teaches how to "start a movement", empowering business leaders to passionately mobilize followers in pursuit of a shared vision.Strategic initiatives thrive when they synchronize the interests of all stakeholders - if corporate objectives are aligned with individual goals, everyone succeeds. This inclusive approach encourages a healthy, open corporate culture and propels the company's standouts into leadership roles.Reed's philosophy emphasizes supporting objectives to the very end - which accounts for his strong track record of achieved results. Lead a Movement is no mere theoretical narration. Its lessons are rooted in decades of practice, backed by Reed's on-the-ground insights interwoven with edifying stories of executives who failed as well as those who triumphed. ungekürzt. William Cobbett (1763-1835) had an interesting life as a soldier, fugitive, political prisoner, journalist, farmer, and in the end a member of Parliament. He began his political career in America and ended up becoming a Radical supporter in the UK. He advocated against the injustices he saw, saying he held "the politics of every normal person". He had a number of radical ideas and set-up a newspaper to publish his articles. This history book was published in installments in that newspaper between 1824 to 1826, when Catholic Emancipation was being ferociously debated. At the time it was a crime to say or hear Mass, or build a Catholic Church. Catholic Emancipation was finally achieved in 1829. This book is composed in a lively and strong style and is highly entertaining. Although not quite exact in some details, it makes for a fun and edifying listen. ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Stephen Planalp.
