Doctor Who: Marco Polo, Hörbuch, Digital, 173min
The first Doctor, William Hartnell, and his companions join the caravan of the legendary explorer Marco Polo in this seven-part 'lost' story from the programme's original 1964 series. The TARDIS materialises at the Roof of the World, Central Asia, in 1289. There they meet Marco Polo and his fellow travellers on their mammoth journey across the Pamir Plateau and through the Gobi desert to Peking. Unfortunately for the Doctor, his Ship proves to be of immense interest to Polo, who sets his mind on presenting it to the mighty Kublai Khan on arrival at his court. But Polo isn't the only one with designs on the TARDIS. The war-like Tegana will go to any lengths to steal the magical blue box, lengths which endanger the lives of all the travellers. When the Doctor meets Kublai Khan himself, his precious Ship is his only collateral in a high-stakes game of backgammon, and Khan is a master of the game.... First Doctor William Hartnell is caught in the battle between good and evil in this exclusive audio recording of a 'lost' television soundtrack, with linking narration by Peter Purves. When the Tardis lands on an arid planet, it seems as though the whole place is desolate and lifeless. But then the Doctor, Steven, and Vicki discover two crashed spaceships: one contains the Drahvins, a race of stunning beauty; the other contains the hideous Rills. However, as the team soon finds out, appearances can be deceptive. It emerges that the beauty of the Drahvins hides a colony of mindless clones who are controlled by the cruel, powerful matriarch Maaga, whereas the ugly Rills are friendly and intelligent explorers. The Rills tell the Doctor that the dried-up planet is about to die. Back in the control room of the TARDIS, he discovers they are right, but things are worse than they thought. There is only one day of life left...one day to escape. With the Drahvins' ship damaged beyond repair, can the Rills get off the planet before the evil Maaga hijacks their craft in her own effort to escape? Language: English. Doctor Who: The Daleks' Master Plan, Hörbuch, Digital, 320min
William Hartnell is the original Doctor in the most epic Doctor Who story ever made, in which his arch-enemies, the Daleks, threaten to destroy the fabric of Time itself! In their quest to gain control of the Solar System, the Daleks have taken posession of the Time Destructor, a weapon which threatens the safety of all who stand in their way. As they head up an alliance of alien races bent on destroying the human race, in their midst is none other than the treacherous Guardian of the Solar System, Mavic Chen. A dangerous chase ensues across volcanos, jungles, deserts, and futuristic cities, as the Doctor and his companions struggle to prevent the Daleks' plans coming to fruition. The stakes are high, and for the first time in the programme's history the lives of two TARDIS travellers are lost.... Peter Purves (who played Steven in the story) narrates these thirteen episodes, only two of which survive in the television archives. Included is the special 'teaser', Mission To The Unknown, which was transmitted some weeks before the master plan itself was unleashed. This story marks the first appearance, here playing space agent Bret Vyon, of Nicholas Courtney, who would later create the recurring role of Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart. Jean Marsh and Adrienne Hill also star as companions Sara Kingdom and Katarina. Language: English. Narrator: William Hartnell, Peter Purves, full cast. Doctor Who: The Myth Makers, Hörbuch, Digital, 100min
First Doctor William Hartnell and his companions mix with mythical Greek Gods in this exclusive audio recording of a 'lost' television soundtrack, with linking narration by Peter Purves. The Doctor has adopted many guises in his time, but to be hailed as the great god Zeus is a bit of a shock. Yet this is exactly what happens when the TARDIS lands on the plains of Asia Minor, not far from the city of Troy. Taken to the Greek camp by Achilles, the Doctor is introduced to Agamemnon and Odysseus and forced to admit his less¿than¿godlike status. He is then given just two days to come up with a strategy for defeating the Trojans. Meanwhile, Steven and Vicki have been taken prisoner by the other side. The Trojans are convinced that Vicki is a spy, and to prove her loyalty she must concoct a plan to defeat the Greeks! Like the Doctor, she has just two days to do it. Luckily for the Doctor, a certain someone has already devised a scheme for beating the Trojans. Even if the wooden horse was invented for a piece of fiction written in the eighth century, it still works. As the opposing forces come face to face in a climactic battle, there are dangers aplenty for both Steven and Vicki. By the time the TARDIS moves away again, it will have both lost and gained a crew member. Language: English. Narrator: William Hartnell, Peter Purves, full cast.
