While We Sleep: The Meaning and Function of Dreams and Dreaming , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 137min
Dreams are a normal part of sleep, whether you remember them or not.Everyone dreams for a total of about two hours per night, and dreams can occur during any stage of sleep, although they’re most vivid during the REM phase. If you’ve ever woken up from a happy dream feeling relaxed and rested or a scary one feeling on edge, you might have wondered whether the content of your shut-eye reveries can make a difference in your overall sleep quality.Dream content often relates back to what’s happening in your waking life. If you’re experiencing low stress and plenty of satisfaction in your day-to-day life, you may have more positive dreams. By contrast, if you’re depressed or anxious during the day, you may have more unpleasant dreams and compromised sleep quality at night. The good news is that while you cannot control your dreams directly, you can work on improving your state of mind during the day. This book investigates theories concerning the function of dreams and dreaming, starting with the contributions made by Freud to the present day. Several theories within psychodynamic, evolutionary, and neurocognitive perspectives are presented and discussed in light of relevant empirical research. These include theories that postulate that the function of dreaming is to guard sleep and theories which propose that dreaming poses an adaptive advantage either by allowing for the simulation and rehearsal of threat avoidance behaviors, practicing social skills, solving emotional or intellectual problems, or aids us in the consolidation of memories. ungekürzt. An Autobiographical Study and The Future of an Illusion , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 301min
Sigmund Freud (1856-1939) reveals himself in this autobiography, which is simultaneously an account of the early history of psychoanalysis, to have been an outsider from the start. This fascinating account describes the journey of a young, Jewish doctor setting out to find his way in the world of professional medicine, his relationships and collaborations, friendships made and lost and his investigations into cocaine, hypnosis and the cathartic method which contributed to the evolution of his conceptual framework and practices. He acknowledges his debts to Josef Breuer, Jean Martin Charcot and others, who provided him with the seeds of his theory of sexual repression, which in turn led him to investigate the sex lives of neurasthenics and the symptoms of anxiety neurosis. All of these were key elements in the creation of the scientific discipline of psychoanalysis. He highlights the importance of patient observation and describes in detail the processes by which he identified the aetiological factors pertaining to different kinds of disorder. His account of the discoveries that made the genesis of psychoanalysis possible and the difficulties that had to be overcome to truly internationalise it and thereby consolidate his legacy is a remarkable reflection on his life’s work. He describes his time in the United States and the results of meeting with Harvard neurologist James J. Putnam and the philosopher William James. He outlines how the transition from catharsis to psychoanalysis was far more than a mere name change or a cosmetic exercise but was informed by his studies in infantile sexuality and the biphasic onset of human sexual life, as well as the conceptualisation of the existence of the ego, id and superego. He charts his life’s path, outlining how he came to integrate insights deriving from the Oedipus complex postulate, the free association method and the transference hypothesis, into his work; and he mentions most of the major figure ungekürzt. The Denisovans: The History of the Extinct Archaic Humans Who Spread Across Asia During the Paleolithic Era , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 141min
The study of paleoanthropology is the branch of anthropology that examines the development of humans and pre-humans - often called collectively hominins - through history. Although paleoanthropology is directly concerned with human history, it diverges from traditional historical studies in that historians use historical records as their primary sources to reconstruct history, while paleoanthropologists work with bones and other artifacts hominins left as their records.Historians deal with the last 5,000 years of human history, while paleoanthropologists go back more than four million years to when the first proto-humans walked the Earth. Although the subject of paleoanthropology covers a much longer chronology than historical studies, the study itself is actually fairly new.As soon as man discovered writing, he began engaging in historiography (historical writing and philosophy), but paleoanthropology only really began in the late 1800s. As archaeologists began finding bones in European caves of a human race that was very different than any race in the modern world, the study of paleoanthropology was born. The race of those early humans who were found in the European caves were later termed Neanderthals, and for quite some time, they were believed to have been the race from which many modern humans were directly descended. Over time, the remains of more hominin races were discovered, leading many scholars to postulate a definite evolutionary line from proto-humans to modern humans, but at the same time, it seemed more questions were raised. Many anthropologists began questioning if the Neanderthals were direct ancestors of modern humans, and now, most believe that they were not, although scholars grant that they were closely related, and many modern humans do indeed carry some Neanderthal genetics. This debate was unsettled until recently, when new scientific knowledge and methods were utilized to answer some of the most important quest ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Daniel Houle. Chakra Crystals: Why the Crystals Are Crucial for a Better Life and Why You Need to Know How to Use Them for Healing Your Body and Mind. The Healing Stones Guide for Unblocking Your Spiritual Energy , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 253min
Are you looking to heal your body and mind? Do you want a better life?In this book, we will explore the continuity that our physical system forms with other higher energy systems. These subtle energy systems play an important and integrated role in the total functionality of the human being. The physical organism, far from constituting a closed system in itself, is only one of the various systems that are part of a dynamic equilibrium. In particular, we deviate from conventional thinking when we postulate that all these systems are superimposed, coinciding in the same physical space. These higher energy systems, which we have called our subtle bodies, are, in fact, constituted of matter whose frequency characteristics differ from those of our physical body. As we commented, and assuming that nature becomes like a frozen light, it must plausibly have a characteristic frequency. The difference between physical and ethereal matter is only a matter of frequency. We know because it is a recognized principle in physics that the energies of different frequencies can coexist in the same space without producing destructive interactions between them. For a demonstration of that principle, it is enough to think about the salad of electromagnetic frequencies that the human being produces artificially, in the middle of which we live, bombarded day and night by radio and television wave emissions that cross our homes and our bodies. That electromagnetic energy is imperceptible to our eyes and ears because their frequencies are far from the bands captured by our physical organs of perception. You will learn:How crystals worksWhy it's important to choose the correct stone and for what purposeUnderstand how to program crystalsHow crystals can help you and whyHow crystals can act for your bodyWhy have crystals been so successfulHow it's important to meditate every day to improv ungekürzt. Spiritism: Everything Is Connected , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 402min
This audiobook presents information about spiritism and how our lives are tethered to the spirit world and everyone else on this planet. I have divided my essays into three categories:What spiritism isHow the spirit world guides the EarthHow the spirit realm assists usAll are interrelated. There are no hard dividing lines where our lives are unaffected by spirits around us. We literally walk in a sea of spirits. We hear and are unconsciously directed by suggestions from spirits. All types of spirits. Good, bad, indifferent, and foolish spirits. The above paragraph sounds fantastic, does it not? It is as if a primitive native from the backwaters of the Amazon basin gave us a lecture on how spirits guide his tribe. For those of us, born and raised in the modern world, we are supposed to have left such aboriginal beliefs behind us. And yet, there are many phenomena that are unexplainable, except through another universe intersecting with ours. On another level, modern scientists, via string theory, know there are multiple dimensions. Other physicists and computer scientists postulate that we do not actually live in a real world, but in a virtual world. Billionaires are paying for the investigation if the world is in fact a simulation. A false universe created for a purpose unknown. The great revelation is that the tribal member, the doctorate student, the billionaire, and the scientist are all correct. Each one views our world and attempts to provide explanations for occurrences, findings, and results of research which do not fit neatly into the view that earth is a rock in space and we are living organisms on that rock, who are born, die, and melt back into the terrain.Spiritism ties everything together. It reveals our purpose, our beginnings, our end goal, and the scope of the organization behind it all. Spiritism tells us there are no miracles...only phenomena that we don’t yet understand ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Brian Foster.

Architecture-Based Design of Multi-Agent Systems
Multi-agent systems are claimed to be especially suited to the development of software systems that are decentralized, can deal flexibly with dynamic conditions, and are open to system components that come and go. This is why they are used in domains such as manufacturing control, automated vehicles, and e-commerce markets.Danny Weyns' book is organized according to the postulate that "developing multi-agent systems is 95% software engineering and 5% multi-agent systems theory." He presents a software engineering approach for multi-agent systems that is heavily based on software architecture - with, for example, tailored patterns such as "situated agent", "virtual environment", and "selective perception" - and on middleware for distributed coordination - with programming abstractions such as "views" and "roles." Next he shows the feasibility and applicability of this approach with the development of an automated transportation system consisting of a number of automatic guided vehicles transporting loads in an industrial setting.Weyns puts the development of multi-agent systems into a larger perspective with traditional software engineering approaches. With this, he opens up opportunities to exploit the body of knowledge developed in the multi-agent systems community to tackle some of the difficult challenges of modern-day software systems, such as decentralized control, location-awareness, self-adaption, and large-scale. Thus his book is of interest for both researchers and industrial software engineers who develop applications in areas such as distributed control systems and mobile applications where such requirements are of crucial importance.- Shop: buecher
