Hi - My name is Nick Vulich. I’ve spent over 15 years as a retail manager, and have personally hired close to five hundred employees. Clerks, managers, warehouse workers, you name it, I’ve interviewed, and hired them. Let me tell you, I’ve seen, and heard some crazy stories. One girl carefully explained how she needed weekends off to visit her boyfriend in prison. He’d just killed someone; she apparently got off on a technicality. I’ve had my share of people coming in smelling like a marijuana factory, and watched them get up and walk out when I mentioned our drug testing program. And, of course, there are always the kids who come in wearing “F**k You!” or “Sh*t happens” t-shirts. But, hey, it matched their sandals and torn jeans. Nice outfit. Totally wrong place for it. To be fair, I’ve also hired a lot of great people. One of these was a foreigner I met in Maryland. We were getting ready to close up shop, before a major hurricane came in. Trees were already down all over; streets flooded. None of it seemed to bother him at all. He handed me his resume, and explained why he was the best man for the job. Heck, he had my attention just by walking in on a day like that. Needless to say I had him on a plane a few days later to interview with the big wigs for a management position. There was also the girl who walked in the store, stopped to straighten the wrinkled carpet, and picked up a wrapper and threw it away. By doing those two things, she outgunned several of my seasoned workers. I probably don’t have to tell you, both of these people got the job. Little things, big results. If you haven't already discovered it this isn't your father's job search. Jobs have changed drastically over the last twenty years, and so has the method used for finding them. If you haven't updated your job search arsenal, you're going to be fighting a losing battle. This book introduces you to the Seven Tools every job seeker needs to fin ungekürzt. Language: English. The goal of book marketing is to stop needing to do itLearn how to:Scope your book into the world's best solution for a certain type of readerTest, improve, & iterate your ToC without needing to rewrite anythingDesign a engaging reader experience that makes your book a delight to readDiscover the hidden analytics of boredom & confusion to identify book-killing problems & make the most of beta readersTreat marketing as a temporary activity instead of an ongoing obligation by designing a strong recommendation loopEvaluate which of the four seed marketing options are best-suited for your goals, constraints, & skillsWrite a book that endures & grows for years instead of fading into swift obscurityBoost long-term growth by optimizing your pricing, platforms, & purchase funnelMost books don't workWriting a nonfiction book is a wonderful project, allowing you to preserve & share the most important things you've ever learned. Plus, a successful book will improve your reputation, your career, your earnings, & the lives of your readers.Up until fairly recently, it was possible to receive at least some of these benefits by writing any book, regardless of its quality. But today, a million new titles are published per year and it's no longer enough to simply join the pile. Instead, you must create something that is able to stand out & succeed. And the most reliable path toward that goal - especially for an unproven author who lacks a pre-existing audience - is to write a book so startlingly useful that readers can't stop talking about it.This guide proposes a different way of planning, writing, & refining nonfiction, drawn from the hard-won lessons of product designers & entrepreneurs. Applied properly, it leads to books that can grow organically via reader recommendations for many years, without relying on either heavy marketing or a large author platform. The preconceptions about "writing a book" are so deeply entrenched that most authors don't even ask themselves whether a better way exists. Which is crazy, because the normal approach doesn't work! For example:The average NYT nonfiction bestseller loses 95% of its peak sales within a year70% of traditionally published titles fail to pay out a single dollar in royaltiesVanishingly few nonfiction books sell even 500 copiesThese are not good results, but it doesn't have to be this way.By following a more modern approach, my first two books (2013 & 2019) now do more than $150k/year in royalties (and growing). You can do it too. It's not easy, but it is reliable & repeatable. And in the normally hit-driven, feast-or-famine world of writing, there's something to be said for reliability. What this book is not:This isn't a get-rich-quick scheme. If you want to write a mediocre book the easy way, then you probably want to look elsewhere. This isn't about prose or creativity. I'm assuming that you know how to write a coherent sentence and are able to do the work. Instead, this guide is about understanding how to design, test, and refine nonfiction that succeeds as a long-lasting, high-impact, and recommendable product. This isn't a self-publishing guide. I won't walk you through every tool & technicality of formatting, printing, and shipping a book. Our focus is on creating the most useful, and most recommendable book possible.Still not sure?Head on over to writeusefulbooks.com to find more resources, samples, and information.

Bristling with guitar acrobatics and infectious melodies, Minus The Bear's fifth studio full-length album, Infinity Overhead, due September 3rd, is not only a return to form in direction, instrumentation and creation but also the band's most aggressive and confident. The veteran Seattle-based fivesome reunited with former member and longtime producer Matt Bayles (Mastodon, Isis, Cursive) to create a guitar-laden 10-track record that is heavy both on technicality and pop songcraft and showcases the band doing what they do best - interesting, guitar-based big sounding rock. We wanted to branch out on the last record and explore some more musical directions and work with someone we didn't know, says guitarist Dave Knudson about the band's 2010 LP, Omni, produced by Joe Chiccarelli. That was very educational and eye opening but at the same time we weren't in our wheel house. Drummer Erin Tate adds: I look at it like when we started this band we were building a house with the first three records, then with Omni we decided to go to a beach house. Now, with Infinity Overhead, we are back working on our house. Bassist Cory Murchy succinctly exclaims: We didn't go anywhere, but we're back. TRACKS: 01. Steel and Blood 02. Lies and Eyes 03. Diamond Lightning 04. Toska 05. Listing 06. Heaven Is A Ghost Town 07. Empty Party Rooms 08. Zeros 09. Lonely Gun 10. Cold Company
