Illustriert Pierre-Ambroise-François Choderlos de Laclos (geboren 18. Oktober 1741 in Amiens; gestorben 5. September 1803 in Tarent) war ein französischer Offizier und Schriftsteller. Laclos, wie er in der Literaturgeschichte schlicht heißt, verdankt seinen Ruhm einem einzigen Buch, dem Briefroman "Gefährliche Liebschaften" (Les Liaisons dangereuses) von 1782, der als einer der besten französischen Romane des 18. Jahrhunderts gilt. Dieses Sittengemälde des ausgehenden Ancien régime wurde von den Mitgliedern der Académie Goncourt 1999 in einer Abstimmung als das "wesentlichste Werk der französischen Literatur" bezeichnet. In mehreren Hundert Briefen werden die Rängespiele der intriganten Marquise Isabelle Merteuil gezeichnet. Diese schlägt dem Vicomte de Valmont aus Rache vor, die jugendliche Braut ihres früheren Geliebten noch vor der Hochzeitsnacht zu verführen. Valmont hat wenig Interesse an einer so "leichten Beute". Ihn reizt die spröde, als äußerst tugendhaft bekannte, verheiratete Marie de Tourvel. Was der Frauenheld Valmont jedoch nicht wahrhaben will, ist, dass er in Marie von Tourvel verliebt ist. Der Stoff diente als Grundlage für mehrere Filme. Der Bekannteste sicherlich inszeniert von Stephen Frears mit John Malkovich, Glenn Close, Michelle Pfeiffer, Uma Thurman und Keanu Reeves.
