Graphics programmers aren't the only ones who need to be proficient with graphics. Web and applications programmers know that a dull web page can be quickly transformed into one that's interesting and lively with the use of well-planned graphics. And fortunately, you don't need the skills of a fulltime graphics programmer to use graphics effectively. From access counters and log report graphs to scientific plots and on-the-fly animated GIFs, graphics scripting is within the grasp of most web programmers. Using open source software, like Perl, you have the power to dynamically generate graphics based on user input and activity, easily manipulate graphics content, and optimize graphics for compression and quality.Geared toward Perl users and webmasters, Perl Graphics Programming focuses on open-source scripting programs that manipulate graphics files for use on the Web. The book demystifies the manipulation of graphics formats for newcomers to the Web with a practical, resource-like approach. With this book you'll learn to:Generate dynamic web graphics with charts, tables, and buttonsAutomate graphics tasks (thumbnails and borders)Create dynamics web documents (PDF, Postscript)Produce rich Internet experiences with Flash and SVGYou'll begin with a tour of the most common web graphic file formats--PNG, JPEG, GIF, SWF, SVG, Postscript and PDF--then you'll explore the most powerful tools and Perl modules available for manipulating these graphics, such as GD, PerlMagick, and GIMP. Included in this part of the book is a thorough description of the Ming module for creating on-the-fly Flash files. Next, a "e;cookbook"e; section includes practical, all purpose recipes: GIF animation, generating images within a dynamic application, communicating between SWF front-end and Perl back-end, XSLT transformations, compression, and much more.Perl programmers naturally turn to Perl to tackle whatever challenge they have at hand, and graphics programming is no exception. Perl Graphics Programming provides all the tools you need to begin programming and designing graphics for the Web immediately. This book will change how you think about generating and manipulating graphics for the Web.

'Those who danced were thought to be quite insane by those who could not hear the music.' Don't let the flannel shirts and short skirts deter you from getting close to the stage at a Real Be Easys show. The 18 - 35 music aficionado hipsters make up only about 50% of the audience. The other half are a mix of classic rock fans who wish the 60's never ended, or Alternative Rockers that still have Nirvana and Stone Temple Pilots CD's in their Stereos. That being said if all the bands from the 90's and the 60's had an orgy without protection, Real Be Easys would be the resulting child. Similar to a newborn baby, the tunes of Real Be Easys are sticky or "catchy" and really hard to get out... of your head. In 2009 Real Be Easys plan to release 2 full length LP's of psychedelic and experimental Alternative-Retro-Rock. Very heavily influenced by Grizzly Bear, Animal Collective, Brian Jonestown Massacre, Dandy Warholes, Beck, Portishead, the Beatles, STP, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, & Prince. A far cry from funky rock tracks like "Ipso Facto," off their previous release Lost Paradise, which reached number 1 on Mike Pinder's top 10 songs of 2008 on Indie-Music.com. Also "Schizophrenic man" off the Real Be Easys Mushroom EP received honorable mention in Billboards 2008 independent song competition. Evan Jaffee songwriter/singer/guitarist of Real Be Easys has dedicated his life to perfecting the art of writing hit songs with Universal Appeal. With a catalogue of songs that grows like cells multiply, in the past 5 months Evan has signed licensing deals with 7 different companies. This being a fulltime job for Evan, he spends day and night honing his songwriting craft by constantly communicating with fans and coming up with ways to make the online experience with the band more interactive. It is the goal of Real Be Easys to give our fans greater and faster access to our shows, lives and thoughts. The Easys have grown accustomed to roaming the road, humbled by the notion that another crowd in another town off another interstate may still be out there, waiting to be beguiled. The Easys have cut their teeth on the molten crag that is the urban pavement of New York City, before carrying their raucous on to whatever locale would tolerate their madness, from Philly to Bal'more, from Brooklyn to Harrisburg. Since their last live performance Real Be Easys have turned their practice space into a recording studio and have begun a freethinking music experiment to create great songs. Be sure to pick up "Some Odd" first of two RBE releases scheduled for 2009.

My Favorite Chopin is my second CD. Playing the music of Chopin is one of my greatest pleasures and deserved a recording devoted entirely to his work. I sincerely hope this recording will be one of your favorites as well. Charleen Harris Stevens was an accomplished child. She began performing on radio at the age of three, singing, playing piano, and tap dancing. She is a graduate of the High School of Music and Art and Hunter College in NYC, attended Juilliard for piano, and played violin in the All City Youth Orchestra. So why is she 'The Accomplished Woman'? Working in the business world has given Charleen a unique perspective which she brings to her artistic expression. She worked as a music teacher in NY public schools, for architect Phillip Johnson on the Battery Park City Project, as an internationa stewardess, modelled for the Paul Madiri Agency, sold vitamins and life insurance, designed and painted silk scarves for the Philadelphia Museum original art gallery. She has also written an opera and a musical, taken dance classes in ballet, tap, and jazz, and won awards for her garden. 'In an age where the average woman works fulltime outside the home and has little time to express her talents, I am expressing mine. Where most people today specialize, I want to promote the ideal of the many-sided Renaissance person. You cannot take every path, you must choose. But sometimes you can return to a path not taken and enjoy the journey.' 'Charleen Stevens' piano performance on her CD, particularly the pieces by Brahms and Schumann, are exquisite, sensitive, virtuosic, and ineffably expressive. The CD awards the classical music aficionado for repeated listening.' -Len Lear, Arts and Entertainment Editor, Chestnut Hill Local, Philadelphia.

Dan Phillips Trio 'Moment of Clarity' is the second release by the Dan Phillips Trio that features all original compositions. This release is the result of several years of working experience for Dan in Chicago with open-minded musicians . The Trio has developed an approach that allowed for improvisations that at times go in and out of forms and structures freely in the flow of the improvisation. This trio has a truly origianl sound with Krzysztof at times playing arco melodies like a cellist and Tim swinging hard and abstracting just when needed. Dan Phillips Bio Dan Phillips has been an international jazz guitarist, bandleader, educator and composer for more than fifteen years and during this time he has performed throughout North America, and Asia developing an original voice and approach to improvised music. The Dan Phillips Trio has been the primary vehicle for the expression of this voice and the Trio has taken on many forms in both New York and Chicago. The Chicago Trio is the one that has come into to it's own through two original recordings 'Journey in Mind' and 'Moment of Clarity' as well as through regular live performances. Dan began his pursuits as a student at Berklee College of Music in Boston. While at Berklee, Dan was selected as the guitarist to represent the College at the 1990 Montreal Jazz Festival. After graduating from Berklee in 1990 he moved to New York City and began his performing career. In New York he continued to lead his own groups as well as perform in a variety of settings as a free-lance guitarist. His ensembles included many of the new voices in improvised music such as Jim Black, Ben Street, Chris Speed, Owen Howard, John Arruccci, Pat Zimmerly and Mike Sarin. In 1996 he moved to Chicago and again began leading his own groups. These groups have included Tim Mulvenna, Chad Taylor, Krzysztof Pabian, Phil Gratteau and Tatsu Aoki among many others. He also returned to school and received a Masters in Jazz pedagogy from Northwestern Univesity. In 2001 Dan made a decision to broaden his experience by leaving the United States and absorbing himself in another culture and environment. He relocated to Bangkok, Thailand and began teaching fulltime and acting as Director of Jazz Studies at Mahidol University College of Music. While in Thailand he performed throughout the country became a well known free-lance guitarist. In 2004 Dan relocated yet again to Tokyo, Japan where he is a free-lance guitarist and band leader. After a Thailand Jazz Festival appearance and some Chicago gigs the Trio has reccorded a new CD 'Destination Unknown' to be released soon. Dan has also performed with many international musicians not prreviously mentioned such as: Gerald Wilson, Danillo Perez, Judy Roberts, Jeff Parker, Francois Lindemann, Rudresh Mahanthappa, Lalah Hathaway and Matt Darriau. Dan has performed at jazz festivals in Japan, Canada, Thailand and the U.S. Tim Mulvenna Bio Tim Mulvenna has been performaing, teaching and recording for the last decaded in Chicago as well as touring North America, Europe and Asia. Tim has worked with many International artists including: Roscoe Mitchel, Ken Vandermark, Peter Brotzman, Robbie Fulks, Ritchie Cole, Fred Anderson, Lin Haliday, John Abercrombie, Tom Varner, Ellery Eskelin, Tommy Dorsey Orhestra and Bern Nix among many others. He can be heard on more than 30 recordings for labels such as Blue Note, Delmark, Atavistic and Okka-Disc. Krzysztof Pabian Bio Krzysztof Pabian hails from Europe as a classical-trained bassist. He began his music studies at the age of 8 on piano and switched to bass at age 14. Krzysztof moved to the U.S. in 1993 where he studied at Northwestern University. Krzysztof has performed with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and the Chicago Civic Orchestra. He has also worked in an array of new music ensembles under the direction of Pierre Boulez, Daniel Baenboim, Christopher Eshenbach, Zubin Matha, Lawerence Foster, and Pinchas Zukerman. In the area of Jazz Krzysztof has performed with Danillo Perez, Judy Roberts, Max Roach, Ron Blake and the Lincoln Center Jazz Sextet. Krzysztof has toured throughout North America, Europe and Asia. "The first impact Phillips makes is with his sense of swing and thick notes that fall from his guitar.......he opens the vista in a swell of notes that cut, roll and sweep ahead in a near torrent.....The textures weave and bob, taking flight on the wings of their imagination. Phillips....makes the experience interesting by taking a turn, breaking up a rhythm, and scattering the edifice. In the unknown lies welcome surprise." (review of Dan Phillips Trio "A Moment of Clarity" ?allaboutjazz.com 1/2005 "....thoughtful and swinging......creates a lot of intriguing colors and not afraid to go out harmonically...It is wonderful to hear music of this high caliber coming from such limited materials. Doing so much with so little is a rarity, and it requires the kind of musical intelligence of a Dan Phillips." (review of Dan Phillips Trio "A Moment of Clarity") ?Cadence Magazine 6/2004.

Welcome to my site. I am Rody Coronel from the Netherlands. I produce electronic music. Ambient, dance, trance and classical electronica are my favorite genres. Born in 1971 Maassluis, the Netherlands, I grew up listening to all kinds of music (Jarre, Vangelis, Queen, etc.). At elementary school I noticed that I could play and memorize music much easier then the other kids but at that time I was not really interested in music...yet. That all changed when I was about 14 years of age. With my old synthesizer, a Korg Poly Six, I imitated every tune I heard on the radio. One day I heard a classical piece played with synthesizers and a church organ. Wow, that sounded so big, so huge. It was a piece by Widor, the Toccata from Symphony no. 5. It totally overwhelmed me. I wanted to hear more and I started to listen to different classical organ pieces. Not long after that I decided to take organ lessons. A year later I got lessons on a real church organ and I started to study the pieces from Widor, Franck, Bach, Reger, etc. After seven years of organ lessons I had to stop because at that time my science education, going out and getting drunk took up most of my time... and my money, so I sold my instruments. A couple of years later, when I was graduated and working my day job, I played with some synths at my friend's house. I just could not stop playing. I had to buy the equipment myself again and so I did. I started to make songs and decided to put them on the internet (mp3.com). The response was overwhelming and after a year I was actually making money with it. With 2,5 million listens to my music it was getting quite known out there and I started to get some offers for different releases. I did some and declined some, resigned my day job and started composing and producing fulltime. I released my music on several compilation CDs by Water Music Records, two educational NASA DVDs and my first full downtempo album 'Mixed Feelings' on DZOS Records. After that I finished my second full album 'Coffee Moment' and released it in februari 2007. Now stop reading, grab a cup of coffee, sit down put on the music and relax!
