Alien Encounters , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 755min
Alien Encounters is the result of years of research into the history of UFO sightings, reports of alien abduction, and the struggle between Good and Evil. It confronts the issues head-on and offers answers to many of the most pertinent questions confronting mankind. Questions such as: Are UFOs real? Are aliens real? Are they hostile or friendly? Why do reports of alien abduction always seem to include experiments being performed on the human reproductive system? Are angels involved? What about demons? Is there a cosmic destiny for planet Earth unfolding before our very eyes? The answers to these questions and their implications are even more shocking than the events themselves. Behind the hype, the hoaxes, and the government disinformation lies a reality so astonishing that the original publisher was too shocked to follow through with this book. However, the reality remains: your personal destiny and that of your family may depend upon how you deal with the strange events that may soon take place. Are you prepared for an encounter? If these things are real, it will lead to the biggest challenge ever faced by mankind. There is increasing evidence that what lies behind these strange events will shortly affect every living person on this planet. ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Gordon Russell. A Monstrous Commotion: The Mysteries of Loch Ness , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 873min
The Loch Ness monster: a creature that should have died out with the dinosaurs or a legend built on hoaxes and wishful thinking? Sir Peter Scott, internationally renowned naturalist and president of the World Wildlife Fund, was convinced that the monster existed. So were senior scientists at London's Natural History Museum and Chicago University; they lost their jobs because they refused to renounce their belief in the creature. For decades the scientific establishment was determined to quash attempts to investigate Loch Ness - until Nature, the world's greatest research journal, published an article by Peter Scott featuring underwater photographs of the monster. Drawing extensively on new material, Gareth Williams takes a wholly original look at what really happened in Loch Ness. A Monstrous Commotion tells the story as never before: a gripping saga populated by colourful characters who do extraordinary things in pursuit of one of evolution's wildest cards. Meticulously researched and dazzlingly written, this book will appeal to anyone fascinated by nature and its mysteries - and to everyone who enjoys a beautifully crafted detective story with a strong cast of heroes and villains, plenty of twists and an unexpected ending. Read by Andrew Cullum and featuring a postscript narrated by the author. ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Andrew Cullum. The Strange Last Voyage of Donald Crowhurst: Now filmed as The Mercy , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 612min
Now a major motion picture starring Colin Firth and Rachel Weisz, directed by James Marsh (The Theory of Everything). In 1968 Donald Crowhurst was trying to market a nautical navigation device he had developed and saw the Sunday Times Golden Globe 'round the world sailing race as the perfect opportunity to showcase his product. Few people knew that he wasn't an experienced deep-water sailor. His progress was so slow that he decided to shortcut the journey, falsifying his location through radio messages from his supposed course. Everyone following the race thought that he was winning, and a hero's welcome awaited him at home in Britain. But on 10 July 1968, eight months after he set off, his wife was told that his boat had been discovered drifting in the mid-Atlantic. Crowhurst was missing, assumed drowned, and there was much speculation that this was one of the great mysteries of the sea. In this masterpiece of investigative journalism, Nicholas Tomalin and Ron Hall reconstruct one of the greatest hoaxes of our time. From in-depth interviews with Crowhurst's family and friends and telling excerpts from his logbooks, Tomalin and Hall develop a tale of tragic self-delusion and public deception, a haunting portrait of a complex, deeply troubled man and his journey into the heart of darkness. ungekürzt. History Bytes: 37 People, Places, and Events that Shaped American History , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 280min
The truth is that much of what we learn about history is a series of little white lies that over time have grown into tall tales. George Washington didn't really walk around with a mouthful of wooden teeth. Those are real teeth and pearl inlays in Washington's dentures. A recent study by Mary Thompson suggests Washington experimented with early dental transplants. He purchased replacement teeth from his slaves for 13 shillings (roughly $50 in 2015 money). Another truth every schoolchild learns early on is Paul Revere was a great hero of the revolution and saved the day by alerting the minutemen at Lexington and Concord that the British were coming. It's true. Paul Revere made a midnight ride, and he spread the news about the British advance on Lexington and Concord, but the fact is Revere never completed his ride. And here's another fact hardly anyone knows. Revere wasn't the only one to make that ride. A second rider, William Dawes, set out by land at the same time Revere rowed across the bay to Charlestown. And one of the biggest hoaxes ever played on Americans occurred during the 1930s and early 1940s. FDR had polio and could barely walk, yet during his presidency most Americans had no idea the president was crippled. American history is full of strange paradoxes, and that's one of the things that make it so interesting. ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: John McBride.
